Hebrews 5:12

“…to grow in the knowledge of God…”

Dear Children,
When you attend high school, you have different teachers that teach you a particular subject, such as Math, English or History. But imagine if you had an English teacher that could not speak English properly or a math teacher that could not solve a simple math problem. What would happen? You would all do very poorly with what you are studying. You would not be able to learn English properly or do a certain math problem.
What does the Bible tell us about teachers?
Let's look at Hebrews 5:12, For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
This verse describes to us those who have been a Christian for a while. They ought to know the Bible very well and be able to teach others God's Word. God expects all Christians to grow in the knowledge of God.
In order to be a good teacher, you need to be a good student first and to grow in the knowledge of God's Word so that you can faithfully teach the Bible too. In doing so, you will help others to grow as Christians.
Knowing the Bible well also help you become stronger too so that you are not weak like a baby, just drinking milk. It means that when people tell you the wrong things about the Bible, you can tell that it is incorrect and know not to follow it.
So, dear children, if you have not started reading the Bible every day, let this verse encourage you to do so, that you may grow and be a strong Christian, a teacher of God's Word.
