“…everything was taken away from him…”

Dear Children,
Today, we will be looking at the character Job, a Bible character who was described by God as a man who was “perfect and upright and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.” He was also very rich with many animals and he was also blessed with ten children. But one day, everything was taken away from him. Let us see what his response was when that happened.
Job 1:21, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
From this verse, we can actually see that he praised God even though everything was taken away from him. The reason that he gave is actually very simple. When he was born, like everyone else, he did not bring anything to this world. There is no baby in this world that comes with clothing on them. In the same way, we will go to heaven without anything on us. We cannot bring anything from the earth to heaven. There is nothing in this world that will last forever. So, there is no reason to be sad about it because he will lose all of them eventually.
On top of that, he also recognized that everything that he has belongs to God. Therefore, God has also the right to take them all away. Indeed, God is the Creator of all things. Therefore, He is also the owner of all things. So, He has the right to take it away at any time. By thinking how great God is as the Giver of all things, he could not help but praise the Lord. Job also knew that there would be a greater thing to look forward to in heaven. Therefore, he trusted God whatever happened.
So, let us also not complain to God when things are taken away from us but praise God even when times are tough as God will eventually bless and reward us in heaven and that reward will last forever.
