Dear Children,
Last week, we learned that God has miraculously preserved His Word. But have you ever wondered, how did we get the Bible? Did God simply write it Himself and hand it to His people?
To answer that question, let us read 2 Peter 1:21, For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
This verse teaches us that God's Word was written by holy men of God. These were men who believed in and followed the Lord. They did not write whatever they wanted. Instead, they were moved by the Holy Ghost to write exactly what God wanted them to write.
That is why Moses could write about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob even though he had never met them. The Holy Ghost, who knows all things, guided Moses to record everything accurately. In the same way, Moses wrote about the coming Saviour, Jesus Christ—the great High Priest—even though Jesus had not yet come into the world. God revealed these truths to him through the Holy Spirit.
What is even more amazing is that the Bible was written by many different men over hundreds of years, yet every book fits together perfectly. There are no contradictions in God's message. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells one wonderful story—God's plan to save sinners through the Lord Jesus Christ.
This reminds us that although many men held the pen, there was really one Author—the Holy Ghost.
So let us treasure this precious Word of God. Read it every day, believe what it says, and obey it with all your heart.
