Dear Children,
Have you ever played the game Telephone (also called Chinese Whispers)? The game begins with one person whispering a message to the next, and the message is passed from one person to another until it reaches the end of the line. When the last person says the message aloud, it is often very different from what was first spoken! The same thing can happen when people try to copy a drawing or a piece of writing by hand.
But God's Word is different. Let us read Matthew 5:18, "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
The Lord Jesus Himself declared that His Word would endure. Left to ourselves, we would certainly make mistakes. It seems impossible that a book copied by hand and passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years could remain unchanged. But what is impossible with man is possible with God. In Bible times there were no computers or printers to make perfect copies with the click of a button. Yet God is all-powerful, and He is able to preserve His Word. Just as He promised, He has faithfully kept His Word throughout every generation. In fact, the Bible contains many verses that speak of God's promise to preserve His Word forever.
Therefore, let us have full confidence that God not only has the power to preserve His Word, but that He has indeed preserved it for us. Because His Word is trustworthy, we can confidently depend upon it for our salvation and for the way we live each day.
