Dear Children,
In Australia, we are blessed with many good things. Many of us have a home to live in, plenty of food to eat, and lots of toys to play with. Some of us may even have a whole room full of toys! But what if one day you lost everything? Would you become very sad or even angry with God?
Let us look at the godly example of Job. Job 1:21, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Job was a very rich man. He owned many animals, had many servants, and had a large family with ten children. But one day, God allowed him to lose everything. He lost his possessions, his children, and even his health. He became very sick.
Yet Job did not become angry with God. Instead, he praised God, saying, The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Why was Job able to say this? Because he knew that everything he had belonged to God. His wealth, his family, and even his own life were gifts from God. Since everything belongs to God, God has the right to give and to take away according to His perfect will.
Sometimes we do not understand why God allows difficult things to happen. But we can trust that God is wise, loving, and always does what is best for those who love Him.
So let us learn from Job. Let us thank and praise God not only when life is easy, but also when life is difficult, knowing that God has a perfect purpose and plan for everything He allows.
