Psalm 23:3b
“…the most vulnerable animals…”
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3b)
Sheep are known to be the most vulnerable animals. They are easily led astray, and that is why oftentimes they wander away and cannot find their ways back to the flock. Even with a shepherd who leads them to the best grazing land and near an abundant supply of water, they still wander away to barren fields with water undrinkable. Therefore, they need a shepherd who will constantly watch over them, and move them from field to field, lest they go astray.
Dear children, we are like sheep, easily tempted to wander to places we are not supposed to go, and to do things we are not supposed to do. We are frequently tempted by the world, often distracted by situations and circumstances, and constantly distracted by undesirable friends. But we have the most amazing Shepherd in our Lord Jesus Christ who will always guide and lead us through His Word and Spirit. Therefore, we must humble ourselves to be led by Him by obeying His Word and the guidance of His Spirit!
