Proverbs 23:7a
“…what they think is not important…”
People are often not careful of the things they contemplate in their minds. Some even believe that what they think is not important because they are just “thoughts” and not “actions.” However, God will judge not only one’s actions but even his thoughts, intentions and motivations. Most importantly, one’s thoughts will inevitably affect his life. As Proverbs 23:7a teaches us, For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Our thoughts will shape the way we live our lives — What we think in our minds will result in our actions, and out of our actions will come forth our decisions, behaviour and the path we take in life.
Our thoughts will either be righteous or sinful — Our thoughts are not neutral, it is either right or wrong, good or bad. What we think has to be measured not by what the world deems but the Word of God, whether they be righteous or sinful.
Our thoughts will have serious consequences — When we keep harbouring evil and wicked thoughts, they are not only sinful, but they will lead us to do terrible things which will then land us in deep troubles. Like if someone keeps thinking of hurting another person, eventually, he will actually commit the act of hurting the person, and he could be arrested and even jailed for the crime. When we keep harbouring jealous and envious thoughts, they will lead us to say nasty things about others, and we will lose our friends.
Therefore, be careful little mind what you think!
