Proverbs 3:5-6
“…two things we need to learn about God and ourselves…”
Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Here, there are two things we need to learn about God and ourselves. Firstly, our understanding is not always right, sometimes we may be right but more often than not, we are wrong. We are not in control of the circumstances, nor do we know the future, yet we tend to insist in our own ways and we think we are moving in the right direction. Secondly, God’s understanding is always perfect, and He is powerful and has absolute knowledge of all things. He loves us, and knows what is right and best for us.
Dear children, if we recognise the above undeniable truths about God and ourselves, we would trust in the Lord’s leading rather than relying on our own understanding. Thus, in everything we do, the decisions we make, and our responses to the situations of life, we would acknowledge that only God alone knows all things, and is in control of everything that is right, good and perfect. When we do that, the promise is that He shall direct thy paths. The path is like the road; it will not be a road to misery and destruction but goodness and blessing. What would you rather do? Trust in God or yourself?
