Proverbs 1:10
“…we are faced with temptations of all sorts…”
Proverbs 1:10, My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
Every day, we are faced with temptations of all sorts. Sometimes, those temptations may come from our friends or people whom we know. The word sinners is a reference to the unbelievers, and to entice is to tempt. Sometimes, our unbelieving classmates and friends will say to us, “Come on, let's go to the party and enjoy ourselves in drinking and dancing. Or let's go and watch a worldly movie. Or why don’t you just miss the Sunday worship service and go shopping with us instead?”
Dear children, they may be persistent in pressuring us to give in to the temptation. When we know that it is wrong to do that, we must not consent which means to agree. At the very onset, we must very clearly declare our Christian faith to them, “I am a Christian, and this activity or program goes against the teaching of the Bible. I will not join you.” Initially, it may be difficult, but slowly these unbelieving friends will give up trying to entice you because of your strong conviction. That is what you must do, “learn not to be enticed!”
