“…love us not only in good times…”
Proverbs 17:17, A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
In life, we will go through different situations and circumstances; times of joy, sadness, success, failure, victory, defeat, blessing and trials. A true friend is someone who will love us not only in good times, but at all times. In fact, it is in difficult times that we truly need the love, support and comfort of a friend. Such a person will not forget or forsake us!
He is like a brother born for adversity which means through troubles and afflictions he proved himself to be a brother.
Dear children, isn’t it true that in adversities, we know our friends? Someone once said, “There are ‘sun-shine’ friends - these are people who stay with us only in good times like when the sun is shining. There are ‘storm-weathered’ friends - these are people who stay with us even in troubled times like when there is a storm brewing.” We want to choose the right friends - people who love us at all times (good and difficult times), people who are like a brother born for adversity.
