Proverbs 22:24-25
“…cannot control his passions…”
Proverbs 22:24-25, Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
Anger is one of the strongest emotions of man. Though it is a common emotional feeling that everyone will experience from time to time, uncontrolled anger is a great danger. Interestingly, if one adds the letter “d” to the word “anger,” it becomes “danger. Indeed, an angry man is a dangerous man because he cannot control his passions.
To be furious means to be extremely angry. Thou shalt not go with him means do not join him. Do not say, “It is alright. It is only an outing, or a casual conversation!” His bad behaviour will inevitably influence you, lest thou learn his ways. And when you are being influenced by him, it will be a snare to thy soul which means it will be bait or trap to you. Eventually, it will be a nightmare to you.
Dear children, to make no friendship with an angry and furious man means “do not befriend or associate with him.” It is a command. As Christians, we should always be kind and gracious in all our ways, but we must be wise in the choice of our friends. When the angry and furious man cannot control his passions, it will be like boiling hot water which is heated up and overspillled. His anger will be imposed upon others, and the people around him (his friends) will be affected. If we are in the company of such people, there will be no peace but only trouble.
