Proverbs 25:19, Confidence in an unfaithful man in times of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
An unfaithful person is someone who cannot be trusted or relied upon. A friend is someone whom we share special moments with, as well as trust and rely on for support in times of need. But the unfaithful will betray, walk away or even turn against us in such times.
When we have a broken tooth and we try to chew some food, or a dislocated foot and we try to walk, we are putting stress on them and they will cause us great discomfort and agony. Likewise, this is what will happen when we put our confidence in unfaithful friends who will disappoint us and bring great pain. Let us be wise and choose our friends carefully.
Dear children, it may take time to find out who is faithful and unfaithful. Sometimes, it may take a trial to reveal to us the true character of our friends. It can be very disappointing, discouraging and painful when we find out that our “friends” are unfaithful. But we must not continue that relationship to avoid greater disappointment, discouragement and pain. Let us be wise and choose our friends carefully; make friends with the faithful and not the unfaithful.
