Proverbs 13:20

A friend is someone whom you know well and like, but is not related to you. A friend is someone with whom you share common interests. A friend is someone whom you like to have beside you whether in times of rejoicing or trouble. He or she is someone whom you spend a lot of time with, therefore he or she can influence you for good or bad.
If you engage yourself with a company of good Christian friends, you will be influenced by things that are spiritual and God-honouring. So, it is important for us to learn to be wise in choosing the right friends in life. Proverbs 13:20, He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. In the Bible, the godly are referred to as “wise,” while the ungodly are referred to as “fools” (c.f. Psalm 14:1). As Christians who are wise, we ought to have a close relationship with those who are godly, and to avoid those who are ungodly.
Proverbs 2:20, That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. We are advised to have a company of good Christian friends. They will remind us of the Word of God, encourage us in times of trials and struggles, rebuke us when we are tempted and fall into sin, and help to restore us, so that we will walk in the path of righteousness. Thus, we must choose the right friends wisely!
