“…my short testimony to all of you…”
~5 min read
First of all, I greet you all in the glorious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for praying for Myanmar mission, including myself. We always remember you in our prayers. I thank God for the privilege to share my short testimony to all of you.
My name is Tai Sut Thang. I have two brothers and three sisters. I’m the second youngest in my siblings. I was born in Ngalti, and was a member of Ngalti BPC before joining First BPC.
Growing up in a Christian environment, I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. After I became born-again, I always prayed to God that I would serve Him as much as I could. However, the needs to support my family (parents and siblings) and worldly ambitions drove me to first go overseas for work. I went to Qatar to work in order to support my family. While working there, I experienced a new sense of call from God. The Holy Spirit made it known in my heart that not doing His work would not bring me peace and joy anymore. As time went by, during my time of working, the desire to study God’s Word and serve Him continued to grow. Eventually, I decided to go back to my home country, and the following five years saw me study God’s Word in a Bible college. I found peace and joy again, and experienced God’s guidance in the decision I made.
When First BPC was founded, I was in the Philippines studying at a Bible college. In 2015 I finished my studies and came back and joined First BPC. Eager to serve the Lord, I was welcomed by First BPC. But I first had to go through a period of probation under the ministerial training plan of the church. The leaders of First BPC taught me the doctrines of Bible-Presbyterian for some time. I had to learn the doctrines upheld by First BPC, before I could finally be appointed as staff in the literature ministry of First BPC.
Looking back, I thank God for that probation period, as I learned so much of the biblical stand, spirit, and doctrines of BPC. The Lord helped me to learn and grow in my spiritual life. Whether in times of difficulty or in times of joy, I want to take part in the ministry of the church and continue to grow in my own spiritual life. Please continue to pray for me.
At present, I take a part in the ministry of the church in the following areas: I serve as the leader of the Youth Fellowship, and as one of the teachers of children Sunday school as well. Also, I serve as staff in the literature & media ministry. In the Youth Fellowship ministries, we have worship service twice a month, and once a month we have an outreach work – we go out to parts of Yangon (like bus-stops, junctions, parks, etc) to distribute gospel tracts. The tracts are published by First BPC. Also, we have Youth Camp every year during summer school holiday. Concerning children ministry, we have DVBS (daily vacation Bible school) twice a year, and a time of outing as well. This year, God willing, the youth camp and children holiday Bible school will be held together, April 13-16, 2026. Please pray for God’s guidance and blessing. Concerning the literature & media ministry, I am involved in the printing and distribution, sometimes in translation and video editing. Our Sunday sermons are video-recorded, and in God’s time, we are planning to upload them on YouTube.
Another area of ministry in which I am involved is to serve at First BPC. In the past, when Ngalti BPC had no resident pastor, First BPC sent me to serve as interim preacher. Sometime I stayed there for one or two months, and at other times five months or a year. The people living in the villages nearby Ngalti are in much need of proper teaching from God’s Word. They love God are hungry after His Word, but they need sound teaching. While serving there, I tried my best to teach God’s Word to the brethren in Ngalti BPC, and to other people nearby as well.
In our fellowship and activities, the teaching and proclamation of God’s Word must always be central. The Apostle Paul encouraged us: “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry” (2 Timothy 4:1-5). The ministry of preaching is something we must truly do all the time. It must not be neglected It is very important—very important for the growth of the church. It must be given great importance in the church. In these days, in the midst of many false doctrines spreading, we are truly blessed to belong to a church that firmly holds to the teachings of the 16th century Protestant Reformation.
My prayer is: “May God’s Word have primacy in the church, in the family, and in the nation. May the youth and all people receive wisdom and strength from the Bible. May God’s Word guide them, and may those who have no hope receive new hope in God. May it become a source of strength through God’s Word.” “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
As Christians, let us not be ashamed of our faith, but strive in every place and in all possible ways to glorify God’s name. In order to understand God’s Word correctly, we need to prepare ourselves well; so that when we know what God says, we will be able to apply it properly. The Word of God has the power to touch a person’s heart. Therefore, as believers, we can no longer live lazily and comfortably. My prayer is that God will strengthen us and guide us in righteousness so that we may glorify Him in everything we do. I pray for you that your faith in God will continue to grow, and that God will pour out abundant spiritual blessings upon you all.
May God richly bless all of you.

In Christ,
Preacher Tai Sut Thang
