Proverbs 3:5-6
“…God has been working in my life…”
Hello, my name is Leah, and I am currently in year eleven. I am grateful to be part of this church for so long and I just wanted to share how God has been working in my life.
I was born into a Christian family and raised in the faith, regularly attending church, Sunday School, devotions, and fellowship groups. I learned Bible verses easily and thought I knew everything about God, but my faith was shallow. I often acted like a “know-it-all,” got distracted in class, and treated church as routine rather than a true relationship with Christ.
In 2019, at a church camp in Perth, I heard a message about accepting Jesus into my heart. It made me reflect, so I asked my parents about it. They said I could come to Christ at any age if I truly wanted to follow Him. That night, I prayed and gave my life to Jesus. I experienced a deep peace and joy only possible through His love and mercy. God was so good to me.
Since then, my desire to study His Word and serve Him has grown. I’m thankful to serve as a Sunday School assistant, teach in the Ephesus HCG children’s program, help with the HBS program, and was blessed to go on a mission trip to Cambodia.
Through serving in children’s ministry, I thank the Lord for strengthening me when I felt weak or stressed. I believe God placed a love for children in my heart to help them grow closer to Christ. His grace has taught me to rely on Him, not on my own ability, and has grown my patience and joy in serving.
I’m grateful for the support of fellow believers, especially my youth group, who have helped me lean on the Lord during times I drifted or struggled.
Since starting high school, I’ve faced many struggles—losing my grandmother (Auntie Mollie) and Cousin Eliana, and battling anxiety, especially around exams. I thank God that they are in heaven. Their trust in God despite suffering reminds me to stay strong in Christ, who gives true joy even when we don’t understand.
Over time, I realised I wasn’t trusting God fully. I tried to handle challenges alone and often neglected my relationship with Jesus. I would constantly worry about the future, especially not getting into the teaching course due to academic struggles and didn’t fully understand how merciful God was in my lowest moments. I felt stuck in a cycle of following God then stumbling.
This hit me hard at youth camp where I felt trapped by everything and broke down in tears. I had forgotten the only One who could truly help me.
After talking with other fellow youths, a brother in Christ reminded me to “rely on the Lord always,” especially when life feels uncertain. I was also reminded that even when we can’t see a way out, God always has a plan.
I was also reminded of this during the Cambodia mission trip. I fell sick most of the time and felt angry I couldn’t serve as I hoped. But God gently taught me that His plans are better than mine, and even in weakness, He can use me for His glory if I trust Him. By His grace, He still allowed me to have made a positive impact, even when it wasn’t how I imagined. It was another moment to surrender control and trust Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” This verse has been a constant reminder for me to surrender my worries and trust fully in God. Instead of overthinking or relying on my own strength, I’m learning to let Him lead me, knowing His plans are far greater than mine.
So, as I write this testimony, I want to remind you: God is always in control. He never lets us struggle alone. He knows us better than we know ourselves, and His will and timing are perfect. Through it all, we are called to glorify Him.
