“…our closest friends should be Christians…”

Dear Children,
We all have friends from school, sports, or other places. We may enjoy spending time with them. But what about our friends from church?
Let us look at 2 Corinthians 6:14a, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
In the past, farmers used a yoke to join two animals together so they could plough the field. If they went in different directions, it would be difficult for them to work together.
This does not mean we cannot be friends with people who are not Christians. We should be kind to everyone and use every opportunity to tell them about Jesus.
But our closest friends should be Christians who help us love God and obey His Word, rather than people who pull us away from God.
Daniel gives us a good example. Even though he lived in Babylon among unbelievers, his closest friends were Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Together, they remained faithful to God.
So, children, be careful when choosing your closest friends.
Ask yourself: Do my friends help me get closer to God, or do they pull me away from Him?
Let us choose friends who will help us love God and do what is right.
