“…He showed them what it truly meant to obey God's law…”

Dear Children,
We all know that to become a professional, such as a doctor or a lawyer, we have to study hard and obtain the proper qualifications. They must prove that they are capable of doing their job before they can practise. Otherwise, the consequences could be disastrous.
How then did Jesus prove that He is the One who can save us from our sins?
Let us look at Matthew 5:17: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”
One of the proofs that Jesus is the Messiah is that He perfectly obeyed the law of God. During His time on earth, some people thought that Jesus was teaching a new law because He often disagreed with the Pharisees and scribes, who were teachers of the law.
But Jesus was not teaching people to ignore God's law. Instead, He showed them what it truly meant to obey God's law—not only by His teaching, but also by His own perfect life. That is why Jesus said that He came to fulfil the law, not to destroy it.
Jesus faced many challenges while He lived on this sinful earth. He was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, questioned by the Pharisees and scribes, and falsely accused by others. Yet Jesus never sinned. He always obeyed God's Word perfectly.
This is one of the reasons why Jesus is qualified to save us from our sins. He is the perfect Saviour because He Himself was without sin.
We could never obey God's law perfectly. But when we trust in Jesus Christ, His perfect righteousness is counted as ours. Therefore, we can have confidence that our salvation does not depend on our own goodness, but on the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ. Let us therefore put our faith in Him and trust Him alone for our salvation.
