Love beareth all things (1 Corinthians 13:7a).
The phrase all things does not mean love just simply accepts anything or believes in anything. Most certainly, we do not accept sinful things or believe in false teachings. Thus, all things mean things that are in accordance with God's Word and His will.
The original word for beareth is very interesting. It means “roof.” Like the roof shelters us from the elements like rain, storm and sun. So the phrase “love beareth all things” means we are willing to patiently endure in order to protect those whom we love.
Dear children, do you love your family and friends? If you do, then you are not only willing to bear their weaknesses and shortcomings, but you are also willing to protect them against criticism, sins and things that will destroy them. Most importantly, if they are unbelievers, you want to save and protect them from the eternal punishment in hell. So, no matter how many times they reject you, you will patiently endure and you will continue to share with them the gospel, with every opportunity that God has given to you.
