Matthew 5:6, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

To hunger and thirst speak of a great desire, a strong pursuit, or a passionate ambition inside our hearts to seek after something that will honour and glorify God, and that is righteousness. Just as food and water are required for physical life, so righteousness is required for spiritual life.

Some examples of hungering and thirsting after righteousness:

To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to love righteousness and hate unrighteousness or anything that is sinful.
To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to seek after the glory of God.
To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to desire to grow spiritually.
To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to be worshipful, prayerful, faithful in service, and love the Word of God.

Dear children, when you hunger and thirst after righteousness, Jesus promised, they shall be filled. To be filled is to be completely satisfied. Notice the word shall is in the future tense. In other words, as you live your life seeking after righteousness, you shall be filled, but you will still long for more righteousness. One day, you will be completely filled and satisfied, and that is the day when you arrived in heaven.
