Prayer Meeting
Since its beginning, Bethel BPC has always had its corporate prayer meetings on Fridays at 8pm. We meet at this time so that many can come together to pray after a week’s work. Pastor Paul Cheng will exhort the congregation with the Word of God, and the deacon in charge of the prayer meeting has the responsibility to lead the people in a time of singspiration, and assign designated items to be prayed for in small groups. Young children have their own Bible lesson that runs concurrently with the sermon and prayers.
Sunday School
Bethel's Sunday School is a ministry that is held every Sunday during the worship service sermon. This ministry has five classes that run concurrently, to cater to children in different age groups. We also hold an annual Holiday Bible School program (HBS) to teach God’s truth to the younger ones during the Term 3 school holidays. The ministry serves as a way to share the gospel to children at the earliest possible age so that they may learn and grow in God’s truth.
Basic Bible Knowledge (BBK)
The Great Commission states that the key to having a reconciled, real and fulfilling relationship with God is teaching and obeying God’s commandments (Matthew 28:18-20). This requires diligent study, personal reflection to allow the Spirit’s conviction to work and godly devotional obedience of all that we know from God’s Word. This important embrace of the Christian faith is explained in the BBK ministry where a 20-lesson course provides a brief on key concepts and practices of the Christian faith as declared in Scriptures.
Course participants are provided a workbook. Weekly sessions are held to examine the contents of the workbook and provide opportunities for the participants to read and understand God’s holy, infallible Word. By God’s grace we pray that He will be merciful to all who attend that they may repent and come to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour.
Annual Family Camp
Once a year, around Easter, all the families of the church gather at a local campsite for a few days. This short period away from work and the world brings us together as a spiritual family to collectively fellowship and feed on God’s Word. Typically, camp speakers for the adults and children’s programs are invited from sister churches to teach on a specific theme. Previous year’s camp messages can be found here.
Senior & Care
This newly formed ministry had its first meeting on the 19th of October, 2023. This ministry serves to foster mutual help, support and encouragement with the Word of God as our Guide.
- We meet: once a month on weekdays (currently Wednesdays at 11am).
- Message: selected by Pastor and participants can suggest topics, as to the needs of the group.
- Participants: to date there are around 12 Seniors and a few younger members. Friends are welcome.
- Light refreshments will be served at the end of meetings.
DHW
DHW stands for “Dig His Word, Discover His Will, and Do His Will.” It is a systematic study of God’s Word covering the Old Testament and New Testament. Currently, DHW study notes are produced each week by Pastor Paul Cheng for the spiritual benefit and growth of all who will faithfully and diligently feed on the Word of God on a daily basis. Classes are held every 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month after the worship service. Our class facilitators meet every second Wednesday evening to discuss the relevant Bible passage.
Home Care Group (HCG)
The Home Care Group ministry is aimed at enabling the families of the Church to connect and serve together. One of the key mandates of the ministry is to live out Hebrews 10:24, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works”. Our Home Care Groups meet about once a month and the current theme is to consider the different characters of the Minor Prophets, and challenges they faced.
Young People’s Group (YPG)
The Young People’s Group (YPG) is a group made for high school students, university students and young working adults. The YPG gathers together every Saturday at 3:00pm to worship God, learn from God’s Word and fellowship with one another. The YPG aims to help each and every one to grow to know and love the Lord, as well as provide support and encouragement to one another. Young people face many tough issues and decisions growing up, but a supportive group of close friends can help make these years easier. Weekly programs consist of Bible studies, workshops, outings, speaker meetings, as well as prayer and sharing.
Choir
Martin Luther once said, “Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. The gift of language combined with the gift of song was given to man that he should proclaim the Word of God through music.” Our church choir has the privilege of presenting praise items at significant events in the church calendar. Colossians 3:16 reminds us that we are to teach and admonish one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. With this in mind, all with a heart to sing joyfully to the glory of our God are welcome to join! The choir rehearses every week, alternating between meeting before and after the Sunday worship service.
Elderly Outreach
Once a month, Pastor and a team from Bethel, visit Monash Gardens to share and preach from the Word of God. Items of praise, singing of hymns and scripture readings are also part of the order of worship. This is greatly appreciated by the staff, the residents and their respective family members who attend these services. Easter and Christmas services are also marked on our calendars. Our young people also have instrumental song items and hymns presentations from time to time.
